Technical Difficulties is Technically a Dope AF Album

Legend released his Sophomore album October 30th, 2018. With tracks that not only hit hard through the speakers, they hit hard with social commentary and lyrically address racial prejudice that is hurting our communities. Songs like “Please Don’t Turn it Up” and “Good Enough” show the vulnerability that men and women go through being in relationships. A couple turn up anthems, beats that go, and witty punchlines go hand in hand through what is Legend’s best collection of work. “Technical Difficulties” gives the listener a deeper look into Legend’s heart and what he carries with himself in songs like “Ugly Truth” as he tells his father while in hospice and on his death bed, “It’s ok to let go I’m a man now”. Again, the album takes you inside self reflection, shines light on the bullshit that is plaguing our community, and can still get the crowd moving.

Las Vegas' own: LOST ELEMENTS

We met C. Will from Lost Elements a while back when he performed on the same bill Legend was performing on in Las Vegas, Nevada. C. Will's energy and delivery caught our attention and his professionalism kept the relationship going. 

We are lucky to have been able to watch the growth of this rap group consisting of three members: Big Skoon, Datzdiggy, and C. Will. Not to many people get the chance to see a group on the rise.  So, A&R's, labels, producers and other people have a chance to jump aboard early.

For a long time Las Vegas has hosted artists, performers and rockstars who were on their way to solidifying their music careers. But, never have they looked over the fence to The Strip's backyard where local, raw, starving artists hustle in whatever way they can get to their hands on the mics.

With a plethora of hip-hop artists in any given city across the country, it can be difficult to stand out and turn heads. However, Lost Elements have been keeping hip-hop alive with their head bobbing beats and dope lyrical bars.

Hip Pop With a Twist

Oso Major, home to artist Legend–who we’ve featured a few times now–recently hit us up with their latest artist, Sirweah. With a cadence that almost resembles J Cole, the young artist isn’t married to hip-hop exclusively and dabbles in a sound that more accurately resembles ‘hip-pop,’ although he has bars [evidenced by his remix of Wizkid’s Afropop hit, “Final (Baba Nla)”]. This loose allegiance to one particular sound not only paints a picture of him as a real artist but also makes his catalog of music currently available deliciously eclectic; an example of this is his unique spin on Jason Chen’s acoustic version of “Photograph.”

“For me, it’s never been about proving myself the best rapper or vocalist; there’s always going to be someone who has me beat at that,” he points out. “If I could, however, give the best feeling to a listener with just one song, then I feel like I’ve succeeded. That’s what my music has always been about; making people feel, and giving them hope from those emotions.”

His latest record, “Everybody Knows,” is a piano-driven, radio-ready single that helps to establish his sound as established; with a catchy sing-song hook and an undertone of ‘look at me I made it,’ the record has legs. You can grab it now on iTunes. Check out some of his music below.

The newest star in the making from Oso Major Entertainment, Sirweah brings his hit single, “Everyone Knows”.  The creativity from this multi talented artist is shared with a behind the scenes look at the creation of his single.

For those that do not know this major artist, Sirweah is a Singer/Songwriter and record producer from New Jersey. 

His music is a result of experimenting, primarily, with Pop and Hip Hop music, which he often tags as "Hip Pop". Although he dabbles in such genres, the Liberian native, considers himself to be less of the ordinary rapper or singer that's confined to one style, but rather an artist that uses inspiration from all avenues to paint a bigger picture that is his music.

“Everyone Knows” is the first single from Sirweah’s upcoming project, “Sounds from Overseas”.   This track shows how Sirweah can tell a story with lyrical punch lines that resonate with his audience and shows his range and powerful voice as he sings his own hook.  The comparisons to B.O.B and even Kid Cudi draw you into the song as he tells you where he came from, “We came along way from singing in dem hallways” to his motivation of creating a beautiful picture of passion and drive as he states he will never stop making music.

Above Average Hip Hop Talks LEGEND and Protect and Serve

We wrote about Springfield, Illinois, rapper Legend a little while back — and were both surprised and impressed by his latest joint that hit our inbox. It’s no secret police brutality is a hot button topic and unquestionably an epidemic in the United States of America. Legend, who wanted to take a less straightforward attempt at air his grievances, dropped ” Protect and Serve,” a dope record that is told from the [crooked] officer’s perspective. It’s a unique take that almost reminded us of the record “Sherades,” by BK rapper Papoose.

A cool thing about this track, though, is that he not only stirs up a conversation, but he purposely left an open verse for any other MC feeling his wave to hop on it; it’s a genius idea. It opens him up to being featured with a bevvy of new artists and effortlessly pushes his brand forward.

It all leads up to his upcoming mixtape dropping at the top of October, and that will serve as a proper prelude to his sophomore effort later in the month. Time will tell if his name will live up to his legacy — but he’s definitely on the right path.

Killing the Game with Diversity

Rapper Legend is coming out of the east side of Springfield, Illinois. As a child, he grew up listening to old school rhythm and blues greats, such as Marvin Gaye, Sam Cook, Al Green, Otis Redding, and many other music icons of that era. Channeling elements of his life — including pain/loss — into motivation, he began making music with a vengeance. Teaming up with Oso Major Entertainment., Legend has revamped his sound and enhanced his stage presence. Not only is he aiming to drop his next solo album, he recently starred in a local independent comedy, “Seriously Trippin’ the Movie.” Not too shabby.

Many artists use the term diverse and unique both interchangeably — and incorrectly. Legend is a better example of both. A careful listen to the SoundCloud feed on his website provides a very eclectic range; from his straight up punchline rapper stance on the Just-Blazish “I’m Here,” to the radio-ready vibe of “Go Ahead and Cry.” I’m almost curious to see which direction he ultimately flourishes as his career progresses.
